Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is not planning to conduct the entrance exam this time due to the outbreak of Corona Virus. The Institute has decided to pass over this year’s entrance exam for all the eight post-graduate diploma courses that have been offered in its six regional centres. They are going to opt students according to the marks obtained by them in their 10th & 12th standards and graduation by holding an online interview. The candidates will no longer be able to appear in the entrance examination.
An official letter conveyed,” In view of the worsening situation of COVID19 in many regions and receipt of enquiries from concerned candidates and parents about the need to travel to centres for appearing in the entrance examination, the Institute has, now, decided to go for a marker-based selection process, as a special case, this year and a detailed notification on marks based admission process will be out by July 30”.
IIMC Not Conducting Entrance: The selection process of non-NRI students will be based on marks secured by them in qualifying Graduation Examination, 12th Examination, and 10th Examination carrying a weightage of 40:20:20 per cent separately. Then an interview will be conducted for all those short-listed candidates that will hold a weightage of 20%. The selection will then be decided on the student’s overall score out of 100. The candidates will have to state the purpose on why they want to join this course making a video for around 2 minutes or a written letter in 200 words describing the same through email. Those who have already applied, need not have to re-apply but have to send the state of purpose.
